How to Use the Partition Assistant to Resize A Partition?

Aomei Partition Assistant, as a partition manager, which specializes in accomplishing all operations in disk partition management. It is easy and reliable to move/resize, create/delete/format partition and more advanced partition operations. As we know, resize partition can not be supported by earlier built-in disk management snap-in in Windows XP, 2000, 2003. Luckily, Partition Assistant has the functions which the Windows "Disk Manager" doesn't have.

Partition Assistant allows you to resize the partition with low disk space safely. Usually, resize operation covers both extend and shrink operation.

First of all, You need to download the software:

As an instance, this is my disk layout as follows. Launch the Partition Assistant as administrator privilege and you will see a main board. (We suggest you close all other programs before launching the software.)

As shown above, the C: volume is 8.55GB, and the D: volume is 27.35GB. Now I want to shrink D: to 15GB, and extend C: to 21GB. How to do with the Partition Manager? The way is as follows.

1. In the following screenshot, you need to right-click the D: drive bar, and select the "Resize" menu option as follows.

2. Then, you will see a pop-up dialog box. Please directly input 15GB to "Partition size" and press "Tab" key in the keyboard, this operation shows you a reduced D: drive (the D: will be shrunk to 15GB), please refer to the following screen:

3. In this dialog box, move the mouse pointer on the D: drive and drag the graphical Partition Bar to the right to make an unallocated space for extending the C: drive.

4. Please click the OK button to return the main window interface. A pending operation has been added to Pending Operations List, and an unallocated space is added between C: and D: partition. Here you will see the following.

5. Now click the C: graphical partition bar, and extend the C: drive to 21GB by dragging the circle to the right as follows.

6. In the above screen, after drag the double-headed arrow to the end, you will see the C: drive that has been resized from 8.55GB to about 21GB as follows.

Now, remember to click the Apply or press Ctrl + Enter, then will popup the dialog box as follows, you need to click the Proceed button to make the resize partition start working.

After clicking Proceed, your computer may be prompted requiring reboot. Otherwise, you will see the following progress bar.

When the all operations are completed, the program will tell you a report. Hereto, resizing partition operations are completed successfully!
